The University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital has increased its capacity to provide state-of-the-art care for patients with the installation of the Canon Sky Plus Angiography System. The C-arm provides real-time X-ray images to help surgeons guide surgical procesures. It is the latest advancement in imaging technology for vascular and interventional procedures, and enhances our ability fulfill our mission across service, teaching, and research.
This technology is crucial for diagnosing and treating conditions such as congenital heart defects, portosystemicshunts that are located inside of the liver, collapsing trachea, and urinary issues such as placing a stent for urinary cancer causing an obstruction to urine flow, to name a few situations.
The new imaging system provides enhanced image processing and faster image acquisition, decreasing radiation exposure and overall procedure time, while increasing safety for patients, doctors and clinical staff.
